Since 2011, No Fixed Address has raised over $264,000 to support services at the YWCA Niagara Region
Described as a 24 hour live-in-your-car-a-thon, No Fixed Address draws awareness to poverty and homelessness, and provides much needed funding for the YWCA Niagara Region to provide support and programming throughout Niagara.
24 hours living in your car can help put an end to homelessness in Niagara
Like a marathon or a walk-a-thon, participants will create teams, gather sponsorships from friends and family and take part in an event that gives them a taste of what it is like to have to live out of their car.
Over the course of 24 hours participants experience just how little room a car has when you sleep in it, what a convenience store diet really looks like, and just how difficult it is to find a private restroom when you most need it.
Family friendly activities throughout the day are designed to educate on the impact of homelessness. No Fixed Address is truly a humbling and eye-opening event for everyone - but can also be fun with live entertainment and socializing in the evening.
Every dollar raised helps put an end to homelessness in Niagara
Last year, YW’s shelters operated at 103% capacity, and there was a 42% increase in the amount of meals served.
All funds raised through No Fixed Address directly support services at the YWCA Niagara Region, providing shelter, food and assistance to women and families living in poverty.
